Comfort Dentistry

Nervous about the dentist? So are a lot of our patients

Dental anxiety is one of the most common reasons people put off care. We know, because many of the patients sitting in our chairs right now used to feel the same way.
We've built our entire approach around making those patients feel okay about being here.
"I am not a very good dental patient. My anxiety skyrockets as soon as I walk in the door, however my hygienist at Pruden is very calming and makes the whole experience much better."

Sedation options

When you need more than a distraction

Some patients need more than a comfortable chair and a stress ball. We get it. We offer two sedation options:
Nitrous oxide:
You breathe it in through a small mask during your visit. It takes the edge off quickly, keeps you awake and responsive, and wears off within minutes after we remove the mask.
Drive yourself home
Oral sedation:
A prescribed medication taken before your appointment that puts you in a deeply relaxed state. Someone will need to drive you home.
Someone else will drive you home
Both options are safe and well-established. We talk through which one makes sense for you before anything is decided.
What patients notice most

The biggest comfort is the people

I have a true phobia about dentists. The staff is so nice and explains everything. I was asked about my level of comfort throughout the visit.

Tools and sedation help. But what our anxious patients mention most in reviews isthe team itself.
They explain what they're doing before they do it. They check in throughout the visit. They slow down.
They don't make you feel embarrassed about being nervous. And they don't pushyou further than you're ready to go in a single visit.
That kind of patience isn't something you can fake, and you can't train it into a teamthat doesn't already have it.
Ours does.

No judgment

If anxiety has kept you away for a while

A lot of our patients hadn't been to the dentist in years before coming here. Some in over a decade. The anxiety kept them away, and then the embarrassment about the gap kept them away longer.
We don't lecture. We don't judge. We just start where you are and figure out a plan together.

"I have a lot of anxiety and the hygienist and dentist both walk me through everything, take breaks, and let me listen to music the whole time. They really care for their patients."
