Dental Implants

A permanent solution placed right here in Suffolk

Dental implants are one of the closest things to a natural tooth that dentistry can offer. At Pruden Family Dentistry, we do the whole thing in-house. Placement and restoration from start to finish.

the basics

So what exactly is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium post that is placed into your jawbone where a tooth is missing. Over a few months, it fuses with the bone, becoming a stable anchor for a crown on top.
The result looks, feels, and functions like a real tooth. You brush it, floss around it, and mostly forget it isn’t real.

The Process

What the process looks like

Every implant is different, but here’s the general path most patients follow.
01
Consultation
We take a close look at your jawbone, overall health, and what you're hoping to achieve to decide if implants are a good fit. We'll walk you through what to expect, including cost.
02
Placement
The implant post is placed into the jawbone. There's a healing period after this — typically a few months — while the implant bonds with the bone.
03
Restoration
Once healed, we attach the custom crown. At this point the process is complete and you have a fully functioning tooth.
The whole process takes several months from start to finish
— but most of that is healing time, not time spent in the chair.

Candidacy

Are implants right for you?

Implants are a good option for most healthy adults who are missing one or more teeth.
The best way to find out is to come in for a consultation. If implants aren’t the right fit, we’ll tell you that too and talk through what other options make sense.

A few things that affect candidacy:
Overall gum health

Certain medical conditions
Broken, chipped, or missing crowns?
If you had an implant placed elsewhere and need some restoration, we handle that too. Bring your records and we’ll take it from there.
